Yahoo Analytics

January 12th, 2010

So I’ve been one of the lucky one who has access to Yahoo Analytics. All I have to say is WOW.

There are a couple things they need to add, but off the shelf it’s the most granular web reporting tool I have ever seen. Yahoo Analytics even makes it possible to associate web sales to PI Television impressions (As granular as Specific networks without using unique URLS).

To those of you who don’t have access yet… You better get on it when the public version is released!

Closure to the Smith & Wesson Chronicles

October 3rd, 2009

Final Update…..
I got a reimbursement check from Smith & Wesson today.

Paul Pluff was the guy who got everything taken care of.
He got involved and was true to his word. He gave me time frames and never blew them. He dealt directly with Remington, and made the refund possible.

I didn’t really want to put his name out there until I was sure everything was going to turn out right.

Thanks Paul.

S&W Doing the right thing.

September 29th, 2009

So i have been holding out to make this post to make sure things were going to turn out right.
A week ago I sent an email to the VP of marketing explaining the customer service experience I have been having.

The next day i got a call from the Director of Marketing / Customer service. The guy who called was very nice and apologized for the horrible experience and explained that my issue should have been completely taken care of weeks ago and understood my frustration.

He then went on to tell me the issue would be handled by the end of the business day.
True to  his word he took care of everything for me and a refund is being issued.

I will post again as soon as i get the refund.

Received a call…

September 12th, 2009

I received a call from Smith & Wesson on Thursday. I spoke with “Kate” i believe she is a manager at S&W. I requested a copy of the findings and the incident casing, since i did’nt extract it. I left the weapon in tact so they can do what they need to do with it. Shje said they will be contacting Remington to try to get them to pay for the rifle.

Let’s see where this goes, someone else who delt with this woman said it’s all smoke and posturing.

We will see..

Smith & Wesson Responds

September 9th, 2009

Smith & Wesson finally decided respond to my email.

Donald,
I have reviewed the information for the M&P rifle and the conclusion
was over pressure ammunition was fired through the rifle.  There were no
defects in the rifle.  We can suggest contacting the ammunition company if
you have any of the ammunition left or the incident round.
The replacement cost quoted to you was the best price we can quote on a
replacement rifle to you.
I apologize that we cannot replace the rifle, but there were no defects in
the rifle.
Thank you,
Kf

This is the response i just sent them.

Kate,
I would like a hard or digital copy findings, as well as the incident casing. S&W  has the incident casing as i did not open the rifle. I sent it as is.

Firing 27 rounds through a new rifle and having it blow up very disappointing. I fired hundreds of thousands of rounds through my Colt when I was in the army. Combination overseas and in training, I’ve never heard of or seen anything like this happen.

It is unfortunate that I have had a very bad customer service experience with your company. I am a Veteran who saved to buy one of your rifles and when I bought your product I was expecting you to stand behind it, that’s why i didn’t go with another vendor. I recommended friends and other members of the Special Ops community to purchase your product. At least 10 purchases were on account of my recommendations. I am beginning to believe that was a mistake.

I strongly urge you to reconsider your decision.

Thank You,
Rangers Lead The Way!
Donald

Can i get a new rifle please?!

Still no contact from Smith & Wesson

September 9th, 2009

OK so I was expecting to hear back from the Smith & Wesson representative I emailed last week about my rifle that exploded. I have heard nothing back form them, I even told them i was a Veteran (yes I have no shame, I played the “V” card)

This really sucks.

Seriously, where is the accountability? I spent over $1100 buying that rifle, it broke and now that they have my money I hear nothing from them. This is completely unacceptable. My COLT never did this when i was in the army, and i took it on 3 combat tours and must have fired over 200,000 rounds out of it in training. Now I completely understand why the military doesn’t use S&W.

If anyone knows anybody at Smith & Wesson please send them to my blog!

Design By Committee

September 3rd, 2009

middle_fingerWhy does every DR website always turn into design by committee? 50 people standing around undoing the last thing the person standing next to him did. “A little to the left, A nudge to the right… ok, ok, ok… now down…” What they all don’t understand is that in the end the site is a freaking mess and ineffective…. I guess the only thing i can compare it to is throwing a turd on the wall and seeing where the splatter lands.

Doesn’t anyone understand that if everything is BOLD nothing is BOLD?
It could be worse, they could have me throw in the belcher button.

The Smith & Wesson Exploding Rifle

September 3rd, 2009

In December of 2008 I ordered a Smith & Wesson M&P-15. It finally arrived at my local gun shop in late June of 2009. I was so stoked. I was gonna be able to go back to the range! Me and a couple of friends went out to Burro Canyon in Azusa CA. for a day of fun. Well when i fired the 27th round out of my rifle the damn thing exploded (it’s the only way i can describe it).

Here are a couple pics.

To say I was bummed out would be an understatement. The only comfort I had was that Smith & Wesson has a lifetime warranty. So I sent my rifle in and waited for about a month to a month and a half. I just got a letter back stating that they are blaming my ammunition and they would not replace my rifle, BUT… I could buy a new one at a discounted rate.

I am so disappointed with Smith & Wesson. There customer service (since i started the return process) has been so sub standard it’s ridiculous. I’ve called and tried to get a hold of someone through there automated system only to be caught in an endless loop.

It goes something like this.

“your call has been forwarded to a voice mail system, however the person at 0 does not subscribe to this service. Your session cannot be continued at this time. Transferring to an attendant. One moment please, your call is being transferred please stay on the line…..”

over and over again……

The whole time they had my rifle. I should have saw it coming though. When i went onto there website to get a hold of someone for a shipping label a guy responded with “Call this number” I emailed him back with a question, and to this day he has never responded to me.

The only hope I have left was a contact email address that was given to me by a guy who had something similar happen. I emailed her today and hopefully I get a positive response. I’ve been polite and patient.

The people on this forum have been great in trying to help me out. Here is a link to where i have been posting about my this whole ordeal .

If you anyone can help in anyway I would appreciate it!

Thanks for reading, I will keep updating this as things develop.
